This trek is a newly discovered trail that takes you to off the beaten tracks and the treasures of the Annapurna region. You will be treated to stupendous views of snow clad peaks of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machapuchare and Manaslu. The other highlights of this trek are Mardi Himal Base Camp, Sidhing Village and Lwang.
After a one hour drive from Pokhara, you will commence your trek from Pokhara. The initial stage of the trek is a gradual climb, then a more strenuous climb upto Australian Camp ( 2060 metres ) followed by a descent to Pothana ( 1950 metres ) and then again a climb up to Deurali ( 2100 metres ). You then come to a sign with the post 'Forest Camp' at Deurali from where you take a right turn and follow a trail through forest; initially climbing up and then undulating on top of a ridge. There is a section on this stretch halfway where the path makes a steep drop and then gradually gains height until you make back up to the ridge again till you reach Forest Camp ( 2600 metres ). The ascent from Forest Camp at first is quite steep, but becomes a more gradual climb as you make it back up to the ridge. The departure from Low Camp takes you through forest cover until you come out to the open ridge to be treated to breathtaking views of Machapuchare straight ahead and Annapurna South on your left. Another 4 – 5 hours of trekking on the ridge takes you to Mardi Himal Base Camp ( 4500 metres ) and one can make it back to High Camp in 4 hours. Though this might be a long day, a view point at the halfway mark compensates for the effort with remarkable views.
The final leg is a trek down to Low Camp, then hike to Sidhing, Ghalel and Lwang villages. We then drive back to Pokhara from Lwang.
