Trekking Langtang valley is also named as the ‘valley of glaciers’ trek. The massive snow-capped mountains and beautiful glaciers make your adventure remarkable. You get to revitalize your feelings for the spirit of nature and your emotions flutter with the picturesque landscapes. Travel Maker South Asia escorts you on this trek and leads you through the rugged trails, swift mountain streams, with grassy meadows and lovely pine forest.

Langtang valley located only 19 miles north of Kathmandu, lies at the south of the Tibetan border and situated between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. The valley is surrounded by Langtang Lirung (7246m) to the north, Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kanga (5846m) to the south and Dorje Lakpa (6966m) towards the East.

Langtang valley trekking begins from Syabrubeshi, a Tibetan village and farmlands mainly of Tibetan origin. The valley trails go through Langtang National Park, the second largest national park of Nepal. The first Himalayan National Park with graded climatic conditions is home to a wide range of animals and unique birds. The park’s inhabitants include monkeys, musk deer, Himalayan black bear and the colorful Danphe (Pheasant), national bird of Nepal and many other floral species. Our trek continues to Kyangjin Gompa (3740m), through panoramic Himalayan country of sub - tropical jungles, and dense forest of oak and pine trees. After an overnight stay in Gompa, which is also a gateway to Tibet, we visit the local yak cheese factory from where we can have an immense view of the glaciers. We taste the truly delicious cheese there before driving back to Syabrubeshi.

Besides the natural wonders, we get opportunities to experience the lifestyle and diverse culture of the indigenous communities who mainly include the Tamang and the Sherpas.

Detail Itineraries

  • Day 01:Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1345meters): and you will be met by our airport representative and transferred to your hotel. Get refreshed and familiar with your surroundings. Your senior trek leader will meet you at eventide & brief you on the pros & cons of your whole trip. Have supper & if you feel like it you can go for a stroll down the streets of Thamel, a well known hub for tourists throughout the world. If you reckon you are tired with the jetlag, then you can go to bed & get up fresh for a new day in the land of the Himalayas. It’s your first overnight in the valley of temples and cows.

  • Day 02:Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi (1467m) – 7-8 Hours: We start our journey about 7 AM in the morning and head north out of Kathmandu driving through scenic foothills and ridgeline vistas to Syabrubensi. We also get to view the enthralling panorama of the Himalaya, including the Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and the peaks of the Langtang region. The first part of your drive up to Trishuli Bazaar is pretty smooth. The path now moves along a gravel road. During the rainy season, the route is sometime blocked due to landslides. Overnight at Guesthouse B.L.D
  • Day 03:Trek from Syabrubeshi to Lama Hotel (2470m) - 5 Hours: Today is the first walking day of our trek and it’s a cool hike, first the trail gradually ascends to Landslide (1810m.). Afterwards, our trail ascends gently to Rimche (2400m.) through Bamboo (1960m.) and at the end our trail is level to the Lama Hotel.
En route we could see red pandas and bear (if we are lucky), and monkeys. We pass by several small bhattis (tea shops). As we continue ascending steeply along the trail, we come across a steel suspension bridge at 2000 meters. The route further crosses to the north bank of the Langtang Khola amid the spectacular vistas of cascading waterfalls and opens into scrub oak forest. At the end our trail gets level till we reach Lama Hotel where we halt for an overnight at our Guesthouse B.L.D
  • Day 04:Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3430m) - 6 Hours: As we continue climbing, there are occasional glimpses of Langtang Lirung between the trees. At Ghora Tabela (3000m), the trail emerges from the forest. While walking here, we will catch a glimpse of white monkeys and local birds. Once there was a Tibetan resettlement project hereabouts, but now it is a Nepalese army post though it has no permanent inhabitants. The trail continues to climb gently and the valley widens, passing a few temporary settlements used by herders who bring their livestock to graze in the high pastures during the summer months. There is a monastery which we can visit shortly before arriving at the village of Langtang. Overnight at Guesthouse B.L.D
  • Day 05:Trek from Langtang Village to Kyangjin Gompa (3870m) - 3 Hours: The trail climbs gradually through small villages and yak pastures as the valley opens out further and the views become more extensive. We cross a wooden cantilever bridge and reach a wide valley after climbing a moraine. There is a small monastery and a government-operated cheese factory at the end of the trail. After crossing several small streams and moraines, the trail reaches the settlement at Kyangjin. Overnight at Guesthouse B.L.D
  • Day 06:Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel - 2490m - 6 Hours: From Kyangjin, we retrace our trekking route, following the Langtang Khola to Langtang village and on to Ghora Tabela. After lunch we continue the steep descent to Lama Hotel. Overnight at Guesthouse B.L.D
  • Day 07:Trek down to Syabru Besi [2000m] From Lama Hotel, we head back to Syabru Besi. We can wander around the undulating path leading to the village. This gives us an opportunity to get an insight of the culture and custom of the Tamang community. We can also simply relax in the sun savoring the beauty of the majestic Himalayan Mountains. BLD
